Steven Weinberg is a professor of physics and astronomy at the University of Texas at Austin. Educated at Cornell, Copenhagen, and Princeton, he taught at Columbia, Berkeley, M.I.T. and Harvard, where he was Higgins Professor of Physics, before coming to Texas in 1982 His research on elementary particle physics and cosmology has been honored with the Nobel Prize in Physics, in addition to numerous other awards. He has been elected to the National Academy of Science and Britain's Royal Society and holds 16 honorary doctoral degrees. Among his books for general readers are Dreams of a Final Theory and The First Three Minutes. His latest book To Explain the World: The Discovery of Modern Science has just been published.
John Hockenberry is a three-time Peabody Award winner, four-time Emmy award winner, and a DatelineNBC correspondent. He has more than two decades of broad experience as a journalist and commentator. Hockenberry is the anchor of the public radio show The Takeaway on WNYC and PRI. He has reported from all over the world, in virtually every medium, having anchored programs for network, cable and radio. John Hockenberry is a noted presenter and moderator at conferences such as TED, Aspen Ideas, and the World Science Festival.
