Even while confronting his own mortality during the last sixteen months of his life, Franklin D. Roosevelt took it upon himself to lead his country to the conclusion of World War II, demonstrating unparalleled leadership and strength in the face of overwhelming challenges. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Joseph Lelyveld, in conversation with David Nasaw, considers Roosevelt’s public and personal struggles and provides a fresh and deeply intimate examination of the enigmatic President’s legacy.

Joseph Lelyveld, former executive editor of The New York Times, is the author of His Final Battle: The Last Months of Franklin Roosevelt. David Nasaw (moderator) is Arthur M. Schlesinger, Jr. Professor of History at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
