Join culinary historian Lavada Nahon for a deep dive into how food, cooking, and dining changed throughout the 19th century! By the time Abraham Lincoln took office, dishes and eating utensils were not what they were in the 18th century and some common spices were disappearing from kitchens. Visit the Museum to take an up-close look at ingredients and kitchen and dining room objects from the early, middle, and late parts of the century; discuss how slavery impacted dining trends; and learn how advancements in science and technology made their way into the culinary arts.
