Who was Quansheba? Join New-York Historical’s Living History coordinator and an expert from the Museum of the American Revolution (MoAR) as we explore the world of Quansheba, a free woman of color who helped run a tavern in Philadelphia during the Revolutionary War. Learn about her life and the lives of other Black women by exploring a recreated tavern, investigating the archaeological collection at MoAR, and looking closely at artifacts that Quansheba may have actually used. As an added bonus: Get a special behind-the-scenes look (virtually!) at the Museum of the American Revolution!
New-York Historical is temporarily closed indoors during this outbreak of COVID-19. Our free, outdoor exhibition Hope Wanted: New York City Under Quarantine is open now. Your support is vital for our ability to continue serving the public. Please consider making a contribution to help fund all facets of our mission. DONATE HERE
