Marc A. Genest is the Forrest Sherman Chair of Public Diplomacy in the Strategy and Policy Department at the U.S. Naval War College. Edward G. Lengel is editor-in-chief of The Papers of George Washington and one of the nation’s leading scholars of the life of George Washington.
