Description: 
White, red, and black painted leather presentation shield presented to Passaic No. 1 by Neptune Exempt No. 3 of Yonkers, New York; "NEPTUNE" and "EXEMPT" in applied leather lettering on recessed, red painted panels separated by painted image of Neptune at top; large "3" cut out at center and backed by black painted leather, with four small tintype portraits in oval cut-outs surrounding it; "PASSAIC" in applied leather lettering on recessed, red painted panel above recessed, black painted "1" and painted image of a fire engine flanked by stars at bottom; recessed, red and black painted scroll designs and gold and light blue scroll designs painted on surface throughout; gold painted edges; two wooden bars attached for reinforcement on reverse.

Molded creamware (mochaware) bulbous or baluster-shaped pitcher with strap handle with leaf-shaped termini; body is banded near rim with dark brown slip and an impressed stylized garland tinted green and near spout with dark brown; in between is a broad brown slipped ground over which dark brown and white slip splotches create a marbled effect.
