Description:
Leaded glass and bronze "Old English" table lampshade; paneled shade with 8 panels having rows of pale gold (orange when lit) quadrangular glass pieces; 4 panels have central heraldic emblem with red, green, and blue glass surrounded by green laurel wreath; 2" apron with pattern of broken circles. Shown on Water Lily base (N84.26.2), with cap (N84.26.3).

Gallery Label:
The "Old English" lamp was introduced in Tiffany Studios' 1913 price list. The shade retailed for $100, and a companion base (model 557) was available for $65. Dr. Egon Neustadt called this the "Harvard" table lamp since it was supposedly made for the library of Harvard University, but there is no evidence supporting his claim.

Description:
Turtleback tile hanging lantern; square bronze lantern leaded on each side with two rectangular yellow turtleback tiles on each side and four triangular pieces on the bottom; bottom panel hinged to allow insertion of bulb. Curved arms project from each top corner to common juncture where heavy supporting ring is fastened.

Description:
Leaded glass and bronze "Gentian Blossom" table lampshade; domed shade with cylindrical top and flaring lower rim; shade has background of white fractured glass, and main design of 16 blue and green floral stalks each enclosed in a Gothic arch; flaring apron has row of uncut green gems. Shown on "Indian Hookah" bronze base with floral stalks and Gothic arches of shade on circular platform and tapering octagonal stem (N84.29.2).

This shade is made almost entirely of fractured or confetti glass, a Tiffany Studios innovation. The glass was created by blowing very thin glass and breaking it into pieces. The pieces were then laid on the glass table and molten glass poured over them. The shade appears on Tiffany Studios' 1906 price list as "Gentian Blossom, convential [sic] jeweled, flat."

Gilt bronze and leaded glass "Venetian" desk lampshade; shade made up of 3 horizontal and 16 vertical rows of mosaic motifs; first row of large ellipses, second row of squared cross and diamond design, third row of ovals with foliate design; glass colors include gold in the borders and background, and accents of bright blue, green, and red. Shown with gilt bronze base (N84.28.2) with openwork section at top; central octagonal column with foliate decoration, and stepped platform set with green jewels; and with cap (N84.28.3).

Tiffany Studios offered this lamp as part of the Venetian Desk Set. Priced at $250, the lamp was one of twenty-four matched pieces. Each item was priced and sold individually, but a basic set usually consisted of blotter ends, inkstand, pen tray, paper rack, paper knife, rocker blotter, memo pad holder, stamp or utility box, and calendar. The lamp was discontinued by 1910.

Favrile glass and bronze desk lamp consisting of seven green blown Favrile glass shades, each with flanged apertures, (a) 10" shade in center has 2 1/4" aperture and is surrounded by (b-g) six 7" shades with 2 1/2" apertures; 20 lavalieres, each consisting of four opaline glass jewels, hang from the rings of each of the smaller shades. Displayed with bronze base with pineapple shape (N84.7.2) set with rhomboid-shaped iridescent jewels; flat circular bottom and seven caps (N84.7.3a-g).
