Description: 
Favrile glass chandelier with five small shades (a-e), pinched near aperture. Shades hang from lower rim of Moorish-style, five-socket bronze fixture (N84.6.2a) that has 30 bronze chains of varying lengths made up of circular links and ending in bronze balls hanging from lower edge of main ring.

Description: 
Blown Favrile glass shade of modified spherical shape; unlit, it is dark green decorated with brown striations and 2" wide belts of iridescent purples; when illuminated, the shade becomes light green with brown striations; 16 wavy lines run from the aperture to the border and the belts are light green bands. Shown on bronze "Balance" desk lamp base (N84.2.2) that has arched stem, spherical bronze balance connected to the stand by a stem-and-leaf attachment, and circular base.

Shown on Fifteenth Century base (N84.83.2), with cap (N84.83.3).

Leaded glass and bronze "Bell Lamp and Lotus Shade" desk lamp; ridged "Lotus" shade with 16 ribs radiating from top; composed of quadrangles of striated green leaded glass. "Bell" base (N84.32.2) has two bronze arms which curve outward and meet at top of shade, forming harp shade; base of arms set into circular fluted platform raised on four ball feet.

Description: 
Urn-shaped favrile glass shade, blown glass ecru with five slender yellow-brown lily-type leaves. Shown with circular base (N84.1.2b) raised on five pairs of ball feet has five leaflike wire filigree supports, and with wire filigree and jewel crown (N84.1.2a), Persian-style with pointed top terminating in ball finial, and five elliptical ruby-red glass jewels.

The earliest lamp in the collection, this example may pre-date Louis Comfort Tiffany's 1894 Favrile Glass patent. Irregularities in coloration and surface texture suggest that the shade was created while Tiffany was still experimenting with the decoration of blown glass. Though it is now electrified, the shade was made for use with candles.

Bronze beading encircles both upper and lower edges.
