Join author Alex Myers as he discusses his novel Revolutionary, which explores the fascinating, true story of Deborah Sampson, the legendary woman who disguised herself as a man and fought with distinction during the Revolutionary War. Hear about Myer’s research , historical understandings of gender, and how Sampson’s story fits into our current ideas about trans identity. Ages 21and up. Wine included with ticket.
Alex Myers is a teacher, speaker, writer, and advocate for transgender rights. He has a novel, Revolutionary, that was published by Simon & Schuster in 2014, and two forthcoming: Continental Divide, from University of New Orleans Press, and Between Dreams, from HarperCollinsUK.
This talk will be followed by a book signing with the author.
