Pillar looking glass in gilded double frame; crest consisting of carved and gilded eagle perched on an open triangular base flanked by urns containing stalks of wheat atop indented cornice with 19 gilded balls suspended from underside; verre églomisé upper panel with interlocked cornucopias in almond-shaped frame at center surrounded by lacy border, and verre églomisé applied to face of block beneath either side of cornice; two colonettes at either side with foliate capital, bundled shaft, and turned base applied to background of verre églomisé; molding set between blocks with applied shell ornament at bottom of mirror frame.

According to the accession records, this sideboard was originally owned by Joseph Wilcox, a Revolutionary soldier. It was purchased by Mr. and Mrs. Jared Carter between 1820 and 1830, and was passed on to their daughter, Polly Carter Stannard (Mrs. Carter Stannard) in 1893. The sideboard then passed on to her daughter, Anna T, Stannard Ward (Mrs. Charles T. Ward), the mother of the donor, on December 30, 1900.

The attribution to cabinetmaker Joseph Meeks is based on the similarity of this table to one in a Joseph Meeks and Sons advertising broadside printed in 1833.
