This baby / child's ring belonged to Pauline Drouillard Oothout (Mrs. Karrick Van Zandt Riggs, 1857-1919). A note found with the ring says it was her first ring. Pauline was the daughter of William (1823-1899) and Jane Elizabeth (Morgan) Oothout (1830-1913). She was a descendent of the older mercantile and banking families of New Youk. She married Karrick V. Riggs in 1884.

Mourning pendant and earrings set, with black onyx set in gold; pendant has loop finding at the top, lozenge-shaped pieces arranged in the capital letter "A", set above square flower with lozenge-shaped petals; square oculus at center with woven hair set beneath beveled glass; wire hook earrings (one missing wire) in the form of 8-petal flowers, with teardrop-shaped petals set alternating at opposite directions.
