Seamed rectangular box case with hinged flat top (which flips open with slight compression of center-front and center-back), cut-out bottom and sides, decorated with machine-engraved checkerboard pattern around exterior.

Gallery Label:
This cigarette case was purchased at Cartier, New York in 1972 by Peter Berke, an employee of the firm. Like many luxury objects sold by the retailer, the foreign-made cigarette case was intended for American consumers. This style of case, which held a disposable cigarette package, was popular during the 1960s and '70s.
