Intended for the 1,000 Gems of American landscape. Note, especially, Miller's interesting inscription, attesting himself as artistically kindred to the renowned late French landscapist, Jean Baptiste Camille Corot (1796-1875). The Miller-Corot affinity is likewise inherent in Miller's similar signature on A Westchester Wood Scene, 1881, also in the Society's collection.
