The residence of Ahasueras Turk was located at 69 Nassau Street, at the southwest corner of John Street. An inscription on reverse written by the great grandson of Ahasueras Turk, on December 22, 1899, notes that Turk was Assistant Engineer of the New York City Fire Dept in 1793 and 1796; he ran an ivory shop that was connected to his house; and he was buried under the sidewalk at William and Fulton St.

This is a modern reconstruction by the artist from contemporary data of the gilded lead statue of King George III, which was executed by Joseph Wilton (1722-1803) for the New York Assembly and erected in Bowling Green, New York City, on August 16, 1770. The statue was pulled down by the Americans on July 9, 1776, after the Declaration of Independence had been read to the Continental Army at New York. Lead fragments of the statue are owned by The New-York Historical Society.
