Description:
Wooden sleigh with hitch; body with rounded back and inward-curving dash, supported on two runners which curve upwards to form dash; three U-shaped suppports connect body with runners, with additional iron rods providing support; iron facings on runners; gently S-shaped hitch terminates in T-shaped handle; all painted black with gold striping. Two small metal bells attached to base of hitch with wire.

Gallery Label:
This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.
