Description:
Circular straw trinket basket with a hinged lid, there is a twisted straw handle across the top to lift the lid, the lid and side have a strip of pink straw checkerboard pattern, a small navy blue silk ribbon bow is at the center front of the lid.

Description:
Brown leather purse with a flap at the top with a vertical strap of leather at the center which has a button hole at the end, and buttons onto a metal stud for closure, the sides are accordioned, there is one compartment inside; the reverse has a triangular piece of leather stitched to it, with a metal wire at the top for hanging the purse.

Description:
Red leather purse with flap at the top with a metal clasp closure at the center, it has a boxed bottom which houses a wooden compartmentalized writing tray which locks with a skeleton key, the inside at one time had two compartments with accordioned sides.

This purse with writing case was owned by Susannah Shannon (1791-1822), the daughter of John and Martha (Reed) Shannon of New York. In 1809 she married Charles Pindar, an Irish-Russian consul to the U.S. stationed in New Orleans. They went into the grocery business when they lived in New York on Warren Street. In 1819 they moved to Greenburgh, next door to Washington Irving.

Description:
Brown leather card case with a flap that nearly covers the front, with a metal clasp closure; when opened, there are five compartments at the top with accordioned sides, one of which has a metal framed clasp closure, in front of these compartments is one envelope-style pocket, calling card-sized, at the bottom, there is a pencil with ivory at the end opposite the graphite, held by a leather loop, this sits above a peice of cardboard which rests over an envelope pocket with flap closure.

This card case belonged to William Hoyt Scott (d. 1903) of New York City. A handwritten remedy dated Nov. 11, 1879 (instructing "one after meals in a little water"), and bill of lading from the Dodds Express New York Transfer Company, dated 1880, was found inside.
