This double portrait depicts Anna Stuyvesant Bayard (ca. 1611-after 1654) and her husband Samuel (1610-ca. 1650) in a lush landscape in front of their home at Alphen-on-Rhine, Holland. After the death of her husband, Anna emigrated to New Amsterdam, then under the direction of her brother, Peter Stuyvesant.
