This object was once part of the folk art collection of Elie Nadelman (1882-1946), the avant-garde sculptor. From 1924 to 1934, Nadelman's collection was displayed in his Museum of Folk Arts, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx. The Historical Society purchased Nadelman's entire collection in 1937.

Description:
Amidships, slightly forward of the paddle box, is one black funnel while at either end of the large super-structure is a wheelhouse. Both ends of the vessel are so constructed as to permit vehicles to be driven on and off.
The vessel is traveling at full speed, leaving a white foam in its wake. This picture is a representation of one of the first ferryboats of the double end construction to ply in New York waters.
