As a child, Mary didn’t understand why she couldn’t wear clothes that made her comfortable. Join us for Sunday Story Time as we learn about the wonderful storyteller, puppeteer and New York librarian, Pura Belpré!  In the book Planting Stories we will read how Pura became the first Puerto Rican librarian in New York City and the first person to incorporate bilingual programs and activities in libraries.  Since she shared and planted stories with so many people, we will craft flowers to share with someone we love.

Do you have a teddy bear that you cuddle every night?  Bring your favorite stuffed animal to Sunday Story Time and celebrate National Teddy Bear Day as we read Teddy: The Remarkable Tale of a President, a Cartoonist, a Toymaker and a Bear.  We will learn more about President Theodore Roosevelt and why the teddy bear was named after him.  After reading the story, we will decorate and create our own teddy bears!
