What a joy it is to lay beneath the night sky and look up at the stars. At Sunday Story Time this week we will be celebrating Astronomy Day as we read Elizabeth’s Constellation Quilt.  After hearing about the adventures of this little mouse named Elizabeth, we will create our own constellation night light!

At Sunday Story Time this week we will explore the stars!  To celebrate National Space Day, we will read Mae Among the Stars and learn about her adventure in becoming an astronaut.  After reading, we will create our own rocket ships to launch into space!

Sunday Story Time is celebrating Women’s History Month!  This week we will learn about Juliette “Daisy” Gordon Low and how her adventurous spirit led to an organization we all know and love, Girl Scouts.  After reading Here Come the Girl Scouts we will create our own patches that relate to our skills, strengths and interests!

Sunday Story Time is celebrating Women’s History Month!  This week we learn about the first-ever All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. No one was sure if the country was ready for a girls league but they proved them wrong!  After reading Players in Pigtails, we will create our own baseball and bat to play a game of Cup and Ball.

This week at Sunday Story Time, join us for a very special singalong! Together, we’ll read silly poems and sing your favorite songs—“Baby Shark,” “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star,” “Family Fingers,” and more! Afterwards we’ll create puppets to go along with one of the songs. In the past we have created finger puppets, marionettes, and shadow puppets—see what we will create next!

Join author and illustrator Don Brown to explore his stunning graphic novel about the 1930s ecological disaster that swept across the Great Plains and Midwest of the United States—the Dust Bowl. After discussion about The Great American Dust Bowl, we’ll visit our Library to look at objects related to the book and the history of this manmade environmental crisis.

Celebrate Women’s History Month with our Reading into History Family Book Club! Coretta Scott King Award-winning authors Victoria Bond and T.R. Simon join us to discuss their fictionalized account of Zora Neale Hurston’s childhood, Zora & Me. After discussion and Q&A with the authors, we’ll tour our exhibition Betye Saar: Keepin’ It Clean, on view in our Center for Women’s History.

Winter can sometimes feel so long and gray—around this time of year, we start to miss sunshine, flowers, and colors. A little girl named Mae in the book Florette feels the same way when she moves from her home of gardens and colors to a very gray city.  This week at Sunday Story Time, we will add a splash of color to our winter by crafting our own little flower garden!
