The rim is deeply embossed with scrolls and leafy branches with berries.

An oval tin lithographed bar tray with a border of white stars on a blue background with flags, banners, an eagle and crossed swords at the top, bottom and sides, around a central image of Theodore Roosevelt in his khaki 'Rough Riders' uniform riding a horse through a landscape with a palm tree meant to represent Cuba. He holds his sword over his head and wears the U.S.V. insignia of the U.S. Volunteer Cavalry Regiment known as the 'Rough Riders' ". It reads in white at the bottom "Teddy Roosevelt".

A heavy silver colored metal arrow is turned to a particular sewing machine manufacturer, model and gauge, which turns an inner carousel to the correct needle case that can be removed through a sliding hatch at the top. With the hatch opened, the inner carousel locks at the desired needle type.
