Description:
Circular hinged locket (mourning) with gold formeé cross inlay on one side, circular brass inlay on opposite side, round fixture at the top with circular brass bail; when opened, one side has short strands of hair set free-form beneath glass, opposite side has hairwork in the form of a monogram "HDT" at the center, surrounded with shafts of bearded wheat.

According to a note found with this piece of mourning jewelry, it belonged to Mary H. Davidson of Louisville, Kentucky. The hair inside the locket came from Mary's sister, Helen M. Davidson Turner, in commemoration of her death near the end of the Civil War. The Davidson sisters, who also included Julia, were the granddaughters of John Pintard.

Description:
Brown woven hair bracelet with metal clasp fastener and safety chain; the band consists of four strands, the central two are worked in a spiraling Jacob's ladder, the outer two consist of loops of hair woven together down the center; the clasp fittings are fan shaped with floral design, the clasp is medallion shaped and has a faceted yellow rhinestone at the center; inscription on reverse of clasp.

He followed his father in the tanning business, forming the firm Corse and Thompson in 1853 located at 89 Gold Street. He married Catharine Ketchum in 1846. He died at his summer home in Sayville, Long Island in 1885.
