Description: 
Gold pocket watch with two silver keys; low relief geometric design engraved on casing; oval wreath with shield on front of case; oval pendant knob with round bow; glass face; white enamel dial with black roman numeral hours and minute markings; hour and minute hands; second aperture at VI with second hand and arabic numeral second markings; distributor's marks on inside of casing; engraving on movement. Silver keys have round loop at the top; second, larger ring at the center of the key; cylindrical stem to keys.

This object is part of a collection of Civil War momentoes that belonged to first Lieutenant Abram P. Haring, Co. G, 132nd New York Volunteers during the Civil War. Sergeant Major A.P. Haring enrolled at the age of 21 in New York City for duty on August 26, 1862, for three years of service. He wrote on the document attached to the watch: "Watch given to me by my mother, March 1860. It's a good time piece & is now in good order. keep it in the family. June 30th 1906. A.P. Haring."

Gold pocket watch in wood case. Watch has gold bezel enclosing glass face and white enamel dial; black arabic numeral hours with minute markings and seconds aperture at the 6; steel moon hour and minute hands; flat knob with engraved winding dial; stirrup bow; back of casing opens to reveal dedication on plate covering movement; calligraphy monogram on back of casing. Watch case is rectangular with rounded corners; shield in middle of top; finished wood; top hinged on with lock on front; interior of box is cardboard and worn purple velvet with a circular mold for the watch; padded top.
