Model of hook and ladder apparatus used by Chelsea Hook and Ladder Company No. 2; red painted metal wheels and rectangular frame with full-width bench in front and single seat in rear with "H & L" painted in gold on the back; removable steering wheel (b) attached to vertical shaft that fits through holes in rear of frame; two sections of ladder (c-d) are carried on sides of frame, and nine sections of ladder of graduated size (e-m) fit inside rectangular frame; removable tongue (n) and two detached fragments (o-p).

Description:
Metal shield in the shape of a formeé cross with hollow circular center; "F.D." and "N.Y." at the top and bottom, a hook and ladder at the left and a fire hydrant at the right, all in relief; the shield is attached to a wooden tripod held together by chains, the two side legs a fashioned to look like ladders, and the back leg is collapsible.
