This clear bottle has machine finished screw top and is still in its original yellow box. The Box is marked "Since 1788/ Bottled in Bond/ The A-M-S Co. Old Grand-Dad Whiskey/ Unexcelled for Medicinal Purposes." On the reverse a picture if oxen drawing a wagonload of kegs and the words "The American/ Medicinal Spirits Company". The bottle is embossed "Wathen Distillers since 1788". A prohibition era liquor bottle meant to be sold legally as medicine. See also 2002.1.312

The lid reads in gold, green and yellow "California Tooth Tablet/ Makes the teeth pearly white and the guns hard and healthy.../ California Perfume Co. New York". The damp brush was rubbed on the cake of dentifrice to apply. The California Perfume Company became Avon.
