This bell comes from the ferryboat Elizabeth, which was built in 1904, the second of its name to ply the route between Elizabeth, New Jersey and New York City. The steamboat belonged to Communipaw Ferry, the oldest interstate ferry company in New York Harbor. According to the accession records, this plaque was formerly attached to the wall of the narthex in old St. Mark's Church on East 6th St., which was attended by many of the people who died in the General Slocum Disaster. When the Church was sold to the Jewish Community Center in 1940, the plaque was removed and stored in St. Mark's new location until it was donated.

According to the accession records, this gun is believed to have come from the battleship "Brooklyn." The second "Brooklyn" was an armored steel cruiser launched at Philadelphia in 1895 and placed in service in December 1896. She served during the Spanish-American War in 1898, engaging in battle at Santiago. The ship was struck from the navy list in 1921 and sold on December 20 of that year.
