Wooden cylindrical needle case, flat across each end and capped with metal bands. In two pieces, top slides over the collar of the other to close decorated with silver bands where the two portions meet. The wooden surface is decorated with small geometric designs caved in wide bands around the case.

Mother of pearl needle case in two parts, cylindrical with a pointed base. Top is turned with a fan or screen shaped finial decorated with carefully carved organic detailing and a painted floral motif. A brass ring marks the divide there the top portions slides over the collar of the base.
