Dark blue wool jacket from New York's 9th Hawkin's Zouave uniform; open jacket front curves at the bottom edges, red lacing is S-design on each side; open sleeves with hook and eye closure (no cuffs); red lacing around outer edges, at wrists, and red piping around sleeve shoulder seam; back in one wide panel with 2 narow panels, narrow panels split at the bottom center; lined with white linen, left pocket inside lining at the bottom.

Dark blue wool 2-pocket waistcoat from 9th New York Hawkin's Zouave's uniform; front in one panel, with red lacing around the neck and in one stripe down the center; back is made in one panel of white plain-weave linen, with 2 sets of cotton twill-weave fabric tape straps which tie at the center; front and back are joined at the left shoulder and left side seam, right side is open and fastens to the back at the shoulder and down the side.
