Handmade dark blue wool single-breasted officer's sack coat; double collar with rounded corners; colonel's shoulder straps with eagle against green ground; 7 buttons down the front; closed sleeves (no cuffs), 3 buttons at each wrist; all buttons cast with eagle above quadrant shield encircled by stars; back made in 2 panels; coat and sleeves lined with cotton, vertical slit breast pocket on each side inside.

Description: 
Officer's cap with dark blue wool crown which is soft, cylindrical, and slightly tapered and angled forward; gold embroidered six-pointed star with sequins at center of rigid, circular top; narrow, vertical strips of gold cloth tape applied to front, back, and either side of crown, and also to lower edge, with fleur-de-lis outlined at center back; gold embroidered front insignia consisting of initials "N.Y." framed by branches of laurel; rigid black patent leather visor which is flat and somewhat rectangular; black patent leather chinstrap secured at either side by gilded brass button embossed with shield-breasted eagle; quilted coral silk lining.
