Description:
Blue trousers with 1 3/4" white stripe down the side of each leg; 4 button fly with fabric tab at the top to the left which fastens to a button on the inside of the waistband, 6 buttons around the waistband; right side horizontal slit watch pocket beneath the waistband, vertical slit pockets at the hip behind the stripe, no rear pockets; 2 straps at the back beneath the waistband which fasten at the center on rectangular metal buckle with double-tongued chape; waist and pockets lined with white cotton.

Deep blue wool Artillery officer's trousers with 1 3/4" red stripe down the side of each leg; 5 button fly with a tab to the left at the top which fastens to a button inside the waistband; 6 belt loops around the waistband; vertical slit pockets behind each stripe at the hip (no rear pockets); waist and pockets lined with white twill-weave cotton; leather stirrup straps at the bottom hems which fasten to 2 buttons inside the hem.

Pair of commodore's epaulets; rigid, gold lace-covered strap with gilded metal button embossed with an eagle perched on an anchor; crescent in the form of a roll of gilt thread embroidery enclosing two embroidered oak leaves flanking an anchor with superimposed shield; two layers of gold bullion fringe, the outermost measuring 3 1/4 inches in length and 3/8 inch in diameter; padded blue velvet lining and brass channel fastener; were originally stored in box (1924.138cd)

Olive drab polyester New York State militia officer's single-breasted coat; double collar and shallow lapels, "N.Y." insignia at the corners of the collar, crossed rifle infantry insignia at each corner of the lapels; shoulder loops with a button at the collar end, gold leaf at the shoulder end; 4 buttons down the front; a pocket at each breast and hip, with flaps that button closed, color bar above left breast pocket; closed sleeves (no cuffs) with 1 band of black lacing around each wrist, patch with "7" on left shoulder; upturned metal hook behind each hip pocket; 2 panels at the back, skirt split below the waistline; all buttons cast with the New York State seal; front panels and pockets lined with brown twill-weave silk, vertical slit pocket at the left breast.

This coat is part of a uniform worn by Kenneth C. Miller when he served in the 107th Infantry Regiment of the New York National Guard, 1940-1947. He was 1st Lieutenant when he was issued this uniform and he rose to the rank of Captain, but was breveted on the reserve list in 1947 with the rank of Major. Miller has donated a substantial collection of N.Y.N.G. uniforms to the Society.
