Description:
Two part cylindrical needle case made of painted wood in a thick lacquer like faux tortoiseshell finish. The case is decorated with inlaid metal and abalone (mother of pear) in floral and banded cloisonné like designs. The top slides over a horn collar inserted into the wooden base to close. Where the two parts meet each is banded with brass.

Red velvet pincushion (sewing bird) set upon the back of a metal bird attached to a C-clamp with a skeleton key shaped thumbscrew; the bird's tail is set with a spring; when the spring is squeezed, the beak opens and functions as a holder.

Tan velvet pincushion (sewing bird) set in a half-barrel shaped wooden holder set upon a clamp with a wooden screw for securing the pincushion to the side of a table; opposite the clamp side of the base is a circular mirror; the device is painted white with blue and gold tole painting in a leaf design.

Description:
Dark brown sewing box with (b) removable lid; leather applied to wooden frame, two leather strap handles; the inside is lined with red moiré; there is a leather strap on the underside of the lid for storing sewing tools, and it contains (c) metal awl; the inside has two vertically cylindrical pincushions on either side of two pockets, one which holds (g) small mirror lined with red moiré and one which holds a piece of cardboard; (e) metal needle threader and (d) crochet hook inside box, along with (f) lace sampler, miscellaneous scraps of trim and paper lace patterns.

Description:
Red leather rectangular sewing case with four flat sides, the front has a pointed flap with two green silk ribbons attached at the center for closure; when opened, there is a small box along one side, one half has a cover that opens and there is a storage compartment, the other half is a pin cushion, there is a sewing book at the foot of the box with three leaves and holding needles, the outer end opposite the flap is a envelope-type pocket, the inside is lined alternately with red leather and green silk.
