Join us this week to read about young Jacob Lawrence—before he became a famous artist. Jake just moved away from his home in Philadelphia to New York City. He sees all kinds of new things, like men playing checkers on the sidewalk and boys selling fruit from a wagon. Jake creates artwork inspired by the city and slowly Harlem becomes his new home.
