Sateen woven cotton corset with a square neckline constructed by mostly machine-stitching; decorated with a machine top-stitched quilted design of rectangles, ivy and clover shapes; embroidered in the front with stars, heart filled shields and the inscription, "ETW/ Aug 1842" (possible anniversary date) in copper and blue thread; eleven ivory grommets up each side of the closure (ties not extant); trimmed with cotton twill tape.

The maker of this handmade corset was the grandmother of the donor. With its low square neckline and gusseted brassiere, the corset mirrors the necklines and tight-fitting bodices fashionable in the first half of the nineteenth century. Its repairs and stains reflect the corset's long history and importance in a woman's wardrobe, as even plain undergarments were much coveted textiles in the nineteenth century.

White silk brocade woman's evening dress with a daisy floral pattern set with sequins in the center of each flower; round waistline decorated with fake pearls in a floral design, this pearl design also wraps around the top of the bodice; gold silk panel down the front of the dress decorated with fake pearls all over and tasseled at the base; gold net across the square chest and shoulder area, fake diamonds set at each cross; fake pearls form a choker neck; long tapered "camicia" styled sleeves with white silk organza puffing out under gold laces with conical metal tips; boned bodice.
