On Sunday, July 16th, cross the seas (or the street!) and visit the Museum to meet some of the first settlers of New York! This weekend’s living historians, the Scions of Patria, are an educational and historical Re-enactment group based in the Hudson Valley who portrays the Dutch people of New Netherland from 1600 to 1775. Listen to stories about life in New Amsterdam, take a close look at their 17th-century clothing, and explore some of their common, everyday tools and accessories!

You’ll discover the general’s sword and field desk, examine maps of New York in the 18th century, and take a close look at their historical clothing. Don’t miss this chance to meet the first commander-in-chief in uniform!

Living Historians from the 3rd New Jersey Regiment, historical reenactors portraying soldiers and civilians, will be encamped in the Museum to answer your questions about life on and off the battlefield. Look into a Continental soldier’s tent to see their uniforms and equipment up close or line up to learn a military drill!
