On Sunday, September 10, meet our first commander-in-chief ever! Portrayed by Living Historian Michael Grillo, George Washington will tell you all about his accomplishments in the Revolutionary War and the founding of our nation.

We’re commemorating the 100th anniversary of America’s official entry into the First World War by bringing New York in 1917 to life! Every Saturday and on select Sundays this summer , stop by the Museum to meet different personalities from the home- and war-fronts of the United States a century ago. Each week is different—you might discover the uniforms of army doughboys, run into a famous leader, or march with suffragists!

Spend your Sunday at the New-York Historical Society with a Revolutionary War regiment! Living Historians from the 3rd New Jersey Regiment, a troop of historical reenactors portraying soldiers and civilians, will be encamped in the Museum to answer your questions about life on and off the battlefield. See their uniforms and equipment up close, discover the contributions of camp followers who supported the soldiers, and line up to learn a military drill!
