On Sunday, February 11, wish Frederick Douglass a very happy 200th birthday! Gather around Mr. Douglass, portrayed by Living Historian Michael Crutcher, to learn about his lifelong fight for equality, ask him about his role in abolishing slavery, and get a good look at his 19th-century suit and tie!

Join us on Saturday or Sunday this weekend to celebrate two historic birthdays! 

On Saturday, February 10, visit the Museum to wish Honest Abe a happy 209th birthday. (He won’t mind that it’s two days early!) Listen to stories about daily life in the White House with the first family told by President Lincoln himself, portrayed by Living Historian Howard Wright. And don’t miss your chance to look inside Honest Abe’s top hat or try to tell time on his special pocket watch!

Did you know that Harriet Tubman led a military raid that freed more than 700 slaves during the Civil War? Meet abolitionist and hero Harriet Tubman, portrayed by our trained Living Historian, and discover more tales, tools, and techniques of how she personally led enslaved individuals to freedom throughout the 19th century.

Join us in honoring the anniversary of the 13th amendment to the U.S. Constitution! We’re celebrating the legislation’s abolition of slavery in January 1865 all weekend with Living Historians portraying historic people from the American Civil War era.

On Sunday, meet Harriet Tubman and listen to tales about how she personally led enslaved individuals to freedom. Take a close look at her 19th-century clothing and equipment that specially equipped her for travel to and from the South.
