Description: 
Black beaver (silk) chapeau with rigid crown; cock and fan edged with floral-patterned black binding and tied together with black ribbon on either side; black silk rosette with superimposed loop of gold metallic cloth tape and gilded metal button embossed with an eagle clutching an anchor within a circle of thirteen stars; gold bullion tassel at each corner; black leather sweatband and black satin lining; in rectangular black painted metal case with hinged lid and handle.

Dark blue wool Naval dress trousers, with 4 button fly with fabric tab to the left at the top which fastens to a button on the inside, hook and eye fastener at the waistband of the fly; 6 buttons around the waistband, vertical slit pockets at the side seams; 2 straps at the back below the waistband which buckle at the center on a rectangular metal buckle with double-tongue chape; waistband and pockets lined with white silk.

According to the accession records, this cap belonged to Col. John B. Walker of the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Col. Walker served as commanding officer, Base Hospital No. 116, A.E.F., during World War I, and as a consultant during demobilizatoin. He was awarded the Distinguished Service Medal in 1922. Black wool General's double-breasted tailcoat; double collar and lapels with 3 blind buttonholes, yellow metal studs near the collar and 2 fabric loops on the shoulders for epaulettes, black velvet false cuffs with 3 buttons, gold oak leaf metal embroidery around cuffs, with 3 silver stars horizontally above; 2 blind buttonholes at the bottom of the bodice; 4 panels on the back of the bodice, with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, a button on each tail; bodice with vertical slit pocket on each breast, one pocket with a blue lead pencil inside; bodice and tails lined with black twill-weave silk; sleeves lined with white satin; all buttons and shoulder studs with shield-breasted spread eagle with cocade above, clutching branches and arrows in its talons.

This dress coat was worn by General Robert Lee Bullard (1861-1947). Bullard served for 40 years as an officer in the U.S. Army. During World War I he was commander of the 2nd Army of the American Expeditionary Force. He graduated from West Point in 1885. As a 2nd Lieutenant he was sent to fight the Apaches under Geronimo. After his retirement in 1925 he was appointed president of the National Security League. General Bullard presented the Society with all of his uniforms.

Camel-colored cotton Infantry Brigadere General's single-breasted campaign jacket with 1 7/8" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes), eagle insignia on each side of the collar with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" on banner above, black shoulder loops with a button at the collar end with star at the center (left star missing); 5 buttons down the front; 4 pockets on the front, one at each breast and hip, with a pleat at the center of each pocket, all with button closure; closed sleeves with false cuffs in chevron shape; buttons cast with shield-breasted eagle clutching arrows and branches in its talons, with "I" on the shield; 2 panels at the back with pleat which is adjustable with lacing on the inside; inside unlined.
