Dark blue wool officer's button-up waistcoat with 1" stand-up collar, 4 slit-pocket front with 9 buttons from collar to bottom hem, back lined with black twill-weave silk with 2 straps at the waist which meet at the center and buckle on vertical rectangular metal buckle with double-tongued chape; inside lined with white silk with blue pin stripes, right breast has vertical placket pocket.

Description: 
Dark blue wool Paymaster General's double-breasted dress coat; 1 1/4" blue velvet closed stand-up collar (1 hook and eye), with metal attachments sewn to the shoulders to secure epaulettes, 1 loop on each shoulder near the outer edge just below epaulette; 4 sets of double buttons down each side; blue velvet closed false cuffs with 3 buttons at each wrist; 4 panels across the back of the bodice with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, 1 button on each side of split skirt; 1 horizontal slit pocket inside left breast, metal clasp buckles on straps inside the waistline, coat lined with twill-weave silk, sleeves lined with white satin; all buttons cast with shield-breasted eagle, with 4 stars above, crest of stars below.

Description: 
Dark blue Veteran's Corps Artillery tailcoat, with 3 1/8" open stand-up collar embroidered in metal thread with shield-breasted eagle on each side at the throat, clutching branches in its talons, with "1780" on the left side, "1790" on the right side, a branch embroidered extending towards the shoulder; 10 buttons down the front, with horizontal rows of black lacing extending outwards from each button across the breast on both sides; open sleeve (no cuffs) with a vertical row of buttons from wrist to elbow; 4 panels at the back of the bodice, with 2 buttons near the center at the waistline, false pockets on each tail with 3 buttons on each false flap, a button on each tail near the bottom, shell and flame insignia at the tip of each tail; lined with white silk, bodice and sides lightly padded and quilted, vertical slit pocket near the center edge of each tail.

Description: 
Black wool Marine's single-breasted dress coat and belt; coat has 1 7/8" closed stand-up collar (2 sets hooks and eyes), with insignia on each side at the throat, bearing an eagle upon a half-sphere with images of the North and South American continents, with a slanted anchor behind; plain fabric shoulder straps with double silver Captain's bars at the outer edge; 5 buttons down the front (1 not original), 4 pockets, 1 at each breast and hip, all with button-close flaps, up-turned metal hook on the left at the waistline; closed false-cuff sleeves; 4 panels on the back, split at the bottom center; lined with black silk, with vertical slit pocket on the left breast, breast lightly padded and quilted, sleeves lined with white silk, inside of collar has metal studs which secure a white starched stand-up form; belt consists of plain fabric strap which is adjustable by a rectangular brass-colored tongueless buckle.

This coat was worn by Robert Lee Bullard (1861-1947). Bullard served for 40 years as an officer in the U.S. Army. During World War I he was commander of the 2nd Army of the American Expeditionary Force. He graduated from West Point in 1885. As a 2nd Lieutenant he was sent to fight the Apaches under Geronimo. After retirement in 1925 he was appointed president of the National Security League. The Society owns the other uniforms worn by Bullard.

Dark blue wool double-breasted Lieutenant Colonel (militia artillery) dress coat, with 1 1/2" stand-up closed collar (1 hook and eye), shoulder straps with red ground, a silver leaf at each end, marks at the shoulder on each side near the collar where epaulettes would have been secured, 7 buttons down each side of the front to the waistline, false cuffed sleeves, open, with 3 buttons on each sleeve, 4 panels on the back of the bodice, 4 buttons on the skirt, 2 at the center waistline, 1 on each side of split skirt; bodice lined with red twill-weave linen, breast lightly padded and quilted, skirt lined with black silk, sleeves lined with white linen; all buttons cast with an eagle above a quadrant shield encircled by stars, with "EXCELSIOR" beneath.
